When trying to use software update, get error NSURLErrorDomain error -1100

I don't know if this is a result of anything I did. It started happening after I installed the latest version of Garageband. When I went into that app, and selected one of the instruments, it directed me to use software update to get all the data for the instruments. That's when I first got the message box. Later, I uninstalled Garageband, and still the update problem continues. Obviously, when this problem first occurs, it will have been after installing *some* app, so I have no way of knowing whether Garageband is involved. I don't think I can update any of my applications until this problem is fixed.

The full text of the message box:

An error has occurred

The operation couldn't be completed.

(NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

Same for me for a few hours now, the Apple servers do not respond in time

and seem to be either not able to bear the load or suffer from technical

difficulties.

This shows us what we have to expect if the vast majority of applications are

only available through a centralized store or store our data in the cloud -

as soon as something goes wrong on the server side there's no chance for

you to a) get ur updates or b) access your data.

Take this as a warning to only use the cloud as an additional service,

always hold local copies of your data - just in case. You know, after all,

apple is still operated by humans who - from time to time - cause OOPSies ;-)

Hi Kappy at all,

Nearly a year after the first post I have got the same problem updating my MacBook Pro/Lion Mountain 10.8.3.:

An error has occurred

The operation couldn't be completed.

(NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

I tried to solve the problem by following Kappy’s advice.

I booted again and tried to update my MacBook Pro

The first time I did it I got:

“No updates available”.

The second time I did it I got the same message:

An error has occurred

The operation couldn't be completed.

(NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

Some help would be appreciated.

Best regards!
