Q: itunes movie not able to transfer to ipad2

i downloaded a movie and it will not transfer to my ipad. It is saying it is not the right formati

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1, disk space classified as 'other'

iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1497 - incompatible format for devices.
