Will iPhone 5 work on cars with a USB port?

I have a 2012 Honda CRV and I'm trying to figure out if iPhone 5 will work via Bluetooth or the USB port.

Correct. Right now i plug my 4S into the 30pin to USB. Then the USB into the USB dongle in my center council. Walla. My iPhone 4S is charging and my album artwork is on my screen with full steering wheel auto controls.

I don't understand how changing the connector would have anything to do with sending the data down the USB but I am worried and Apple didn't have a clear answer for me if my CRV recognize the iPhone 5 or if it even sends the audio data out the lighting to USB the same way it did the 30pin to USB.

Come on kids. Nothing has changed about the USB. The only thing that has changed is the port to the iPhone 5. Therefore it will work seamlessly. nothing has changed. Don't worry. How did you think you were going to plug it into your computer. It will work on your computer... therefore it will work in your car. They havent changed any USB codecs.

I am afraid the new connector might not work for all cars as many 30 pin car adapters use the analog signal from the 30 pin connector for audio and usb for the control signal. The new 8 pin connector is purely digital and if you look at the specs from Apple it does not seem to support analog audio out...

This is going to be a huge pain point for some who expect the new phone to work with their current car adapters like BMWs or Audis. It will probably take a while for people to catch on, but I expect there to be a lot of disgruntled iPhone 5 owners after they realize that the new phone does not seemlessly integrate with their car the way their old 4s, 4 or even first gen iPhone does.

Hopefully there is a solution in the works but it is not looking very promising at this point.

This article clears up the adapters. It states that the adapter will support USB audio. Italso states that the cost of the cables is because thei aren't just cables and connectors, but they have chips built into them to let the new cable do what the old cable did.

There are also two more adapters on the way for video.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. So even though my car has a USB port, and I can buy an iPhone 5 and take that phone with the cable that comes with the phone and plug it right into my USB port that won't work, I have to buy a 30pin adapter, scrap up an old 30pin cable and plug it into my USB? That's the most retarted design I've ever heard of. What if this is my first iPhone ever an I don't own any old 30pin cables..ha.

So basically all their new USB/lighting cable that comes with the phone does is charge and transfer data to iTunes?
