Whoosh sound in my macbook pro

If this is related to sending emails, then you can turn off the send sound: Mail > Preferences > General. Now uncheck Play sounds for other mail actions.

If this is related to iMessage, then iMessage > Preferences > Alerts > uncheck Play a sound:

If the " whoosh" sound continues, System Preferences > Audio > Sound Effects. Uncheck Play user interface sound effects.

glad someone made a post about that because i also have the same problem and has been bugging me for days... i'm made sure all notification sounds, sound effects from sound setting as well as notification for new email sound turned off yet sound still continues...

can anyone help me with that?

I had this same problem, it was in iMessage and was when a buddy signed in or out, you need to go into the preferences and change this setting to play no sound.

Thanks. This had been bugging me for ages, but I never had spent the time to track it down. You are spot-on, the sounds are from buddies logging on/off. I think this only happens if you configure iMessage to use another/additional accounts. In my case google chat.
