I didn't know Adobe had one of those working there. "Hey yeah, let's send the Adobe Flasher out-He'll be great publicity for our stuff, right?" You ought to be able to, try Software Update, or adobe.com/flashplayer or adobe.com/downloads, then choose where you want to save the file to and it should download, be saved, then you can open it up and install Adobe Flash. I dunno what browser you're using, but it should work okay.....
Adobe Flasher? You just made my day 🙂

There have been malware attacks from third-party sites claiming to Install FlashPlayer, but adding some malware to it. Because of that, FlashPlayer should only be installed from here:
i have tried to install the updated version for my OS...but everytime i try to watch a video on youtube or hulu, it still says that i need to update! i have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled again. i tried right clicking on the "install adobe flash player" icon and selecting "show package contents", opening the "contents/resources" folder and looked for the adobe flash player package...but it wasn't there! i am SO CONFUSED. i believe i have tried about 5 times now, and i still get the same message when trying to watch a video. any ideas???
Adobe Flash Player as downloaded from the Internet is an Installer package.
You must double-click on it to invoke Installer to Install it, and answer a few questions and agree to terms before it will install. Opening the package will not do you any good --- there is nothing in there you can drag-and-drop to Install.
well the problem is that i already tried that...and it says that it's installed...but then i go to youtube or hulu and it won't play videos bc it still says that i need to upgrade. and i'm downloading the upgrade from adobe's website..not from an external source. i'm trying to get version 11.5.502.110
The other way to do it is to use :
System preferences > Flash Player > Advanced...
... and use the (Check for Updates ) button and get it to Install the latest Update itself (since it seems to be so smart now).
If you are not foinding the Flash System preference, you have some other problem.
I understand what afevrier is talking about and I am having the same issue. I can look under system preferences, flash player, advanced and it shows me that I have the most current plug in version. I click check now and I downloaded the most current version, but still, cannot access any thing that requires Adobe Flash. There must be some other preference that we have set up that is not allowing us to use this. Thoughts from anyone??

A few questions. Where in Adobe Flash System Preferences does it say you have the most current version before you click Check Now? In my Flash Preferences at least, if I have the latest version I will be told that and not be offered to download it again. You can also find out what the most current version is by checking here http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ as well as what Adobe sees you have installed.
What browser are you using Flash in? Do you have any extensions installed, such as NoScript or Ghostery which sometimes interfere with Flash working? There are other extensions too which cause such problems but are IMHO essential none-the-less for reasonably safe surfing.
Perhaps you have encountered Falshback trojan. If so, this update will remove it:

Flashback would not prevent Flash from workin. In fact, none of the Flashback variants distributed in 2012 even used the fake Flash Player installer. It's certainly possible that he was infected if his OS is not up-to-date, of course, just that it would not cause this issue.
Thanks, MadMacs0, I stand corrected.
