Troubles with my AppleTV or AirPort?

So my 1st generation AppleTV unit connects to my internet via the AirPort base, but then when the menu comes up, it flicks to the Apple Logo, then back to the menu, but not long enough for me to manipulate the menu screen. Any ideas?
