I want to watch downloaded tv shows from amazon on my LG HDTV. Will apple TV accomplish that?

I want to watch downloaded tv shows from amazon to my 2008 macbook on my LG HDTV. Will Apple TV alone accomplish this or do I need to go in a different direction?

Mac OS X (10.6.8)
