I have a MacPro that won't even run Mountain Lion. Guess I won't promote anything in ML.
But I have a MBP that does run Airplay mirroring so I guess I will promote it. With the caveat that you need to have a fast WiFi network to really use it and to me it is not really that useful. I guess if I was connecting to large TVs or projectors for presentations it might be different.
You might take a flyer with AirParrot.

You might want to save your anger for Intel, all Apple is doing is writing a line of code that use QuickSync in the Intel chipset. Wasn't available for the Intel chips in your equipment.
