iPhone 5 Pre-Order Delivery Date

I pre-ordered iPhone 5 32 GB black CDMA version, at about 7 central time this morning, and website says it will be delivered on October 5. If this is true, I am extrememly unhappy. Could it arrive sooner than that time?

Thanks

I hear ya. I've got the same Delivery Date. I don't understand why they make those of us that pre-ordered wait, while they make sure they have plenty to sell at the stores. Pre-orders should get priority.

I think Apple botched this release in a lot of ways. They were supposedly "doubling down" on security but everything that was released had been leaked on the tech sites.

Then they make a model phone that has LTE in the USA and Japan. How does that make sense? It would make alot more sense to put LTE for Canada and the US on the same phone.

Selling out with 1 hour of preorder starting. They knew what the anticpation for this phone was.

Then having only the earpods available to order on announcement day? No iOS 6, wait a week for that. No, iTunes, wait until October, no preorders, wait two days.

This is very uncharacteristic and makes me wonder what's going on.

I've got a Oct. 5 estimated delivery for a 64GB, black, on Verizon.

I may cancel and try to get one on 9/21 at the store.

I thought about cancelling too, but standing in line at a store on launch day does not guarantee a phone in my hand. Knowing my luck, I would be the guy right behind the person that received the last phone. Lets be quite realistic. If a pre-order sells out in an hour flat, what are the chances of actually getting something from a store? Also, like most, I work a full time schedule and camping out is not really an option for me. At least with this pre-order, I am guaranteed a phone at some point.

Depending on when Apple decides to move the preorders into the "prepared for shipment" phase you could go to the store and if you get the phone then cancel the preorder.

Of course once they changed the order status to prepared to ship you cant cancel. I'm betting that all the Oct 5 orders will go to prepare to ship just before 9/21 just to stop people form hedging their bets. But that's a hunch.

There's a chance that Apple will ship the phones earlier then Oct 5. I wasn't given the option of faster shipping when ordered. Once that thing ships I want it as soon as I can, so I would have upgraded the shipping had I been given the option.

The thing that worried me with this high demand and short supply is that thes thing will becoming hot off the factory floor. There were issues with the iPhone 4 glue not having dried properly because the process was moving so fast.

I can't help but think that quality has to suffer when you ramp up and the poor workers in those factories have to suffer too.

I definitely agree. It would also be my luck that I would actually end up with a phone in hand at a store, and my pre-order would change to "prepared for shipment" (hampering my ability to cancel). These phones aren't cheap, and I did pay full price to stay under the grandfather clause for unlimited data through Verizon. It doesn't make sense to build a phone with a great 4 inch display, add the capability of netflix, and then cut me off at the knees because I watched more than two movies on netflix (each movie roughly at 1gb).

If I recall, it wasn't just the glue not being properly dried, but there were also reversed volume buttons and defective cameras. I really feel for the poor people in those factories.
