How can I fill a shape with a gradient?
Is it possible to create a shape with a Gradient Fill? If so, how?
thanks,

There is a gradient generator in textures.
Tom, as far as I can see that's only a background gradient. I am looking for a way to add gradients to shapes.
Can you help?
thanks,
Geoff
Make the gradient. Put the shape on top of it. To the shape layer apply blend mode stencil alpha.
You might find this useful:

Gradient fills are built in (as well as blend modes.)
Thanks Tom, but I don't seem to be able to change the color of the gradient. Isn't this a little useless?

Geoff
Fox_m, thanks for the link. It looks promising!

You can use Video>Color Correction.

Sorry to ask again, but I don't understand the above advice. I simply want to create a circle filled with a gradient colour.
Is any able to take me through the steps? It seems to be such a basic question, I'm not sure why I'm struggling with it... sorry!
thanks,
Geoff
Thanks Russ, I tried this, but I have several video on layers under this, and they became invisible. How to avoid that? Also, how can I choose an exact colour start and end for the gradient?
thanks
Geoff
Please post a screenshot of that part of your timeline. I'm now shutting down for the day, but I'm sure someone will comment further.

GGroup the shape the fill gradient into a compound clip. That will prevent the stencil from cutting other layers.

I would use my preferred pic.app Pixelmator, use .png as format to keep transparent background, done.
FCPX is no painter nor a real 'composer' such as After Effects or Motion ... 😉
