I have a 2nd gen ipod mini and haven't used it in a few years. I just got an iphone 4s so now have itunes on my computer again. If I plug my ipod mini into my computer, how will this affect my current version of itunes and any content on my iphone?

Your iPod mini will not have an affect on how your iPhone or iTunes library in any way whatsoever. There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync with one iTunes library, Apple ID account, or computer.
