Q: My son just bought an old ipod shuffle.  When I connect it to my mac, it does not appear in the "device section."  I only see it in the finder and cannot manage it there.  What to do?!?!? THANKS for your time!

No, the devices section in iTunes does not appear when ipod connected.  It DOES appear in finder, but none of the information on the ipod appears.  It was previously used by a windows user and now I am trying to use it on a mac.  I have tried all the USB ports.  I have tried to rest the Shuffle.  Please help me!

Okay, I tried to use the disk utility.  I erased, but cannot restore.  It still does not appear in itunes, so I cannot resotre it.

I will try ad use another PC and see if I can get it to recognize it.  Maybe I should have tried that first.  Oh well, I cannot change that.  Have to put the kids to bed and I will get back to you. THANK YOU for your time!

I hooked the ipod up to another PC and it asked to be restored. YEAH!!  I restored it and then it worked fine on my mac.  THNAK YOU!!!!  My son is elated!  I should have tried that first, but I did not have a PC around until my brother-in-law walked in last night.  So glad that it worked so smoothly.
