I have an old Miracle piano Keyboard and tried to connect its midi thru Tascam USB122. But it is not being recognized by midi setup. I tried midi in and out cables. Then midi in to out only. Still doesn't work.
Is it necessary to have a driver for the keyboard to connect.
This is a very old keyboard.
Mokemon
it is working fine with my Powermac 7300/200 playing miracle software, connected with the miracle cable to printer port. It was running ok in my pc thru creative Audigy 2 ZS thru midi ports.
Somehow It doesn't on my mac OS X.
I understand mac should be able to recognize the midi signal, regardless of the drive.
Make sure you have configured your midi setup in Audio Midi Setup. If you have a midi interface connected and compatible drivers are loaded, the interface should automatically show up in the Audio Midi Setup: Midi pane. You then have to add your keyboard and draw the connections to it. See
Mac OS X 10.3 Help: Describing your MIDI system for instructions.
Note: Audio Midi Setup also has a "Test Midi" function that will tell you if the keyboard is transmitting midi in the first place.
I've just been given such a keyboard but no software for my (old OS9) Mac. Might it be possible for you to image the floppy disk(s) and eMail them to me? Thanks in advance.
