Opening Multiple Desktops in OS X 10.8.1

I have just downloaded the latest version of OSX & now I can seem to access the multiple Desktops.

Previously I think it was via "Spaces" but i may be wrong I had hot corner set so that when I went to the top right of my screen it displayed multiple desktop that I had running & if I want to add a new one I just clicked on the "+".

Now what happens when I go top right is that all the open windows reduce into one screen but it does not show any other desktops that I have running & there isnt any "+" option to add new ones.

I've tried looking for online help & it suggests prssing control 1 or 2 etc, but I would like to try to get back to how it was before and there is still no "+" option to add a new desktop.

Yes there is. Spaces is now called Misson control. The purpose is to combine expose and spaces in to one uniform function. To add a desktop (space) simply hover around the top-right corner. You will see a half-desktop with a plus sign. Clicking on it will add a new desktop.

I've tried this but no half-desktop with a "+" sign appears.

Any ideas??

You need to click on Mission Control first.

Change your Hot Corner in System Preferences > Mission Control > to Mission Control.

It's probably set to "Application Windows" currently.

I've checked & it is set to mission control, I'm going to restart my machine to see if this helps & makes the multiple Desktops & the "+" button towards the top right appear.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I have another question that can I configure the OS to display the current number of the Space?

When I have many spaces(windows/desktops), sometimes I cannot remember where I am, and in 10.6 OS I can see the number of the current destop in the bar at the top.

Click on MissionControl from Dock or Application folder.

Then click Alt/Option & '+', together.

You don't need reboot. Works immediately:)

But thanks, in clean install of 10.8 it's good solution 🙂
