will only blink the apple logo unresponsive

My ipod nano 6th gen is completely unresponsive. I've used different usb cords, plugged directly into the wall, tried docking station. It initially flashed a very faint apple and then gradually the resolution is completely normal with charging, but it will not turn on, I can't reset it, the blinking just continues, it's not being located by my pc. I'm out of answers. This is my second one now in 4 years. Its really very disappointing to me that I've spent this much on apple products that I end up tossing after a couple of years. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible to be fixed? It was working fine not long ago...
