Basically, what this is saying is if you reboot with an OS X disc in the drive you should be able to reset the password using that. Or, if you know your AppleID password, you can reset your Mac's password using that (OS X Lion or above).
Hi, I too forgot my password and don't have any OS disc. How do i have to process with the AppleID password please?
Muchas gracias! Many thanks!
It unfortunately doesn't works...
This is explained:
To reset your OS X user password with your Apple ID
If you incorrectly enter your account password at the login window three times, a message appears stating "If you forgot your password, you can reset it using your Apple ID". Click the arrow-in-a-circle icon to bring up the "Reset Password" dialog. Enter your Apple ID and password, then click "Reset Password" to proceed.
But... nothing happens when I click on the arrow-in-a-circle.
Can you please help further?
No more reboot disc with the new macs... No chance to restore a password ... or to do anything you could do "in old times" with a cd/dvd...not cool...
