I am trying to change the location of my itunes library and the library doesn't copy to the new location. I followed the steps in the help message (HT1364) exactly but I am not prompted to consolidate in the new location. Any suggestions?

Did you run Consolidate from the menu, as it states at Step 9?
Thanks. I thought I would be prompted to consolidate but I wasn't. After your suggestion I searched on "consolidate" and found out where the command is and now I am consolidating my itunes in the new folder. Again, thanks for your help.
Upon further checking, although under the advanced tab it shows that itunes is (should be) pointing to my external drive, in reality it is still pointing to my internal hard drive. Furthermore, I got many dupes in my movies folder and I am missing apps. How can I fix this so itunes is pointing to my external hard drive? The reason I started this whole process is my hard drive is about to fail and I wanted to prepare all of my programs in preparation for installing a new hard drive. Thanks for any help you could provide.
The simplest way is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the internal drive to the new computer or the external drive. No need to do anyting in iTunes.
Ray, After you run Consolidate, iTunes will have all its content in the iTunes Media folder in the new location. (The old copies will still be where they were, but iTunes no longer uses them.) Is this not what you are seeing?
Hi ed2345 and diesel vdub, when I consolidate, the files start copying to the new location and part way through I get a message that the copying failed (-50) even though all of the files are already in place in the new location. Should I just delete the itunes in the new location and manually copy the files again? But in itunes, I have indicated that the new location is on the external hard drive but itunes seems to ignore that and still looks for itunes in the original location on my internal hard drive. I disabled the location of itunes in the old location (by labelling itunes as "itunes old") and it tried to create a new itunes at the old location and prompted me to import music and videos from a CD or other source. I hope I am making sense.
Changing the location of the media folder to something other than the current location does not cause iTunes to start looking there. It also does not cause the iTunesLibrary.itl file to move.
Where is the media currently located? Please provide exact paths.

The media is currently located at C:users/Ray/my music/itunes. I want the media to be located at K:itunes.
