Unable to install HP 6110 for network use

Question

Unable to install HP 6110 for network use

I can not get the imac and printer to function over the network despite several driver re-install attempts.

The network works (internet access)
The printer works with the iMac connected via USB cable
The printer works for the PC' on on the network

Any suggestions welcome (as with previous solved problems - I am still a Mac novice)

Network printing requires CUPS drivers. HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers (they are working on them, I think). HP's drivers work only for the comm protocol intended - USB.

Install hpijs and ESP ghostscript:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/

When you add in printer Setup, use the HP Jetdirect protocol.

There is no driver for network scanning.

Thank you so much.

Do I just download these (to the desk top) and click them? Or is there some special procedure - I'm a PC person so some simple Mac things are not so obvious to me.

Yes, download the .dmg files (disk image), then double-click to mount the image and double-click to install.
