10.7.0.21 Upgrade Problems

This is the problem. i-Tunes was working perfectly until I upgraade this morning. Now, some files will plan and some will not. I have tried to discern a pattern in hopes of classifying the files, but I can't see any logical groupings. I call Apple support, but that did not help. They told me to un-install and re-install i-Tunes. I have done that, but the problem is the same.

Based on the comments that I have read on this blog I have concluded that the upgrade is unstable. I am not sure what I can do, if anything, Please help if you can.

Lenovo X201-OTHER, Windows 7, Running i-Tunes 10.7.0.21

The following user tip is usually the high-percentage play when all your video content crashes iTunes, but it would do no harm to check with your issue too:

I do appreciate that tip. I am still testing, but it appears to have solved my problem. It is interesting that all of my video content did not crash; only some, but it did appear to solve the problem. I do appreciate your help. If you are ever in the USA, I will buy you a dinner.

Speculation, but I've got a couple of thoughts as to why this might hit people on only some of their video content.

Newfangled thought: Modern versions of iTunes don't necessarily use the QuickTime Player for some content, as per the following document:

iTunes 10.5 for Windows: Older media files may require QuickTime

Oldfangled thought: Fiddling with Direct3D acceleration or putting QuickTime into safe mode (GDI only) is an old-fashioned sort of troublershooting technique. Back in the days when I used to have to recommend it a lot more to folks, I noticed that sometimes the symptoms it was efficacious with were partial issues: some content played with a green screen instead of video but other content played video okay, for example. So this seemed like it might be analogous to those sorts of problems from back in the day.

Not clear which or both are in play here. (It could be neither ...)

Same problem here with mpeg files. Turning off Direct3D acceleration is not an acceptable solution as whilst itunes may no-longer crash all videos become unwatchable (choppiness etc.)

System: Dell 540s Q8200 4 gig HD 6570 Vista 32 bit.

So whilst I can use VLC or (God forbid) MS Media player - it kind of defeats the object of having my video media in itunes.

So how do I downgrade back to 10.6?
