iMessage "check email for verification" error

I've seen DOZENS of these support questions. Some answers work for some people, some don't.

Originally when I turned on my iPod I thought I set it up so that I would have an Apple ID for iTunes and an Apple ID for Facetime/iMessage. I thought I screwed it up by doing this and did something wrong. Come to find, seems like just about everyone is having this issue.

In my research I have found and tried the following ways to fix this...and they have not worked.

Tried turning date/time to auto (already was set up this way)

Tried changing the DSN data to the 8.8.8.8 as suggested, nothing.

Tried resetting to factory settings (about 10 different times)

Checked Apple ID info, had a couple email addresses attached to that ID that weren't verified but the main email was. That is now fixed.

It seems no matter what I do, I keep getting "unable to verify address. An email with a verification link has been sent to the above email address" If I go to Apple, my ID is already verified with that email address.

I have a scheduled call with Apple today an a couple hours. I might not be able to make it so I went back to reschedule it, and now they are telling me I need to pay $60 to talk to someone, and that I don't have any tech support for my device because it is expired. Um, what? I just bought this a week ago!

If anyone can help, I would be very greatful. This is so frustrating. I'm pretty good at computers and all that stuff, and I just cannot figure this one out for the life of me.

Hi, sorry you're having this problem.

From my understanding your message, I can see that it's asking you to verify your Apple ID?

Well, for iPod Touch, your Apple ID is what you use for iMessage and Facetime.

If they sent an e-mail to you, try checking your Spam/ Junk folder, mostly Apple e-mails come for me there.

Here's how you can set up iMessage for iPod Touch 4generation.

  • Click the Settings App
  • Scroll down and click "Messages"
  • If iMessage is off, swipe the box to were it says "On"
  • Enter the password of your Apple ID (This is how you buy Apps, Music, and other goodies for your device)
  • Click Login

If you're having more trouble, contact Apple Support at 1-800-MY-APPLE.

About your problem with you just getting your iPod Touch, try talking to them about this at your scheduled meeting.

Just a quick update. I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple support and they aren't able to figure this out, at least not right now. I as able to connect to my husbands Apple ID on my device and and I unable to connect using my Apple ID on his device. So it seems that the issue is with my Apple ID. They are going to look into it and get back to me in a couple days and see if they can figure out the problem, as my account IS already verified with them and this shouldn't be happening.

I am having the same problem with my Ipod Touh 4th generation. I have got my main e-mail address for my Apple I.D and 2 others attached to it. All of which are verified and should be fine to use however when I try to actvivate Facetime/Imessage I have to sign into my Apple I.D whcih it does fine. It then gives me a list of 3 e-mail accounts and asks me which one I want to use. I have tried selecting all kind of combinations however I don't see how this would affect it as they are all verified to the account. After clicking next to verify the e-mails it takes about 30 seconds to just return to where I have to sign in again. I am quite good at sorting out apple accounts as I have had to do it many times before. The Ipod' IOS is up to date (as of the time of posting this) and I can't work out what is going on.

Please can somebody help.

Thanks.
