Q: iTunes and Quicktime display settings?

When using iTunes or Quicktime player, my screen goes momentarily black, then comes back with HUGE dislays that are unworkable. I have re-set the display settings to the recommended one, and restarted, but it still happens! HELP, thanks!

That sounds like you've got non-standard compatibility tab setting engaged in either iTunes or QuickTime.

Try the following documents (only be sure that no boxes are checked in the compatibility tabs, not just the compatibility mode boxes):
