QuickTime Player will not open (Illegal instruction: 4)

Hi - Whenever I try to open QuickTime Player, nothing happens. No dock icon bouncing, nothing.

This happens when I open a file with QuickTime Player, or open it directly.

I tried to open it with the Terminal, and the message I recieved was:

"Illegal instruction:4"

I saw a question which had a similar problem but with lots of default apps, after an upgrade to Lion, or Mountain Lion. They fixed the problem by repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility. I've done that, and it hasn't helped.

When I tried sudoing it, I got no error message, but it still didn't open.

I'm running OSX 10.8.1, QuickTime seems to be v10.2 (?), this might have happened since upgrading to Mountain Lion, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Well, I've had this problem for ages, but it's suddenly started working. Perhaps it was a recent software update.

I haven't done anything else.

Sorry if I couldn't help anyone else with this problem (but it doesn't look like there is anyone)
