Cannot update to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7

Cannot update to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7

When I go to update iTunes, it says there are issues and I would have to go to Tools > Download Only. I can't find that option (I'm on iTunes 10.6.1.7) but I assume it wouldn't work because the guys on different discussions/forums all said it doesn't. I believe there is an error with the signature. I've tried to shut down the iTunes process and repair Apple Software Update via Programs in Control Panel. I've also tried to download iTunes from Apple's website and it told me there were issues/errors during the installation so it never worked. My WiFi is pretty good and consistent so I don't think the installer would be corrupt. What should I do now? A valid answer/option would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

(If you get a different error message with that, let us know what the new error message says. Precise text, please.)

Ok, I attempted to install iTunes from the Apple site as you said and here's the error message I got: "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again, or click finish to exit." This was the same message I got last time.

having the same issue. was just notified today of the update to 10.7 and when i click Download nothing happens. This is on my Windows 7 Bootcamp partition.

My iMac running 10.7.4 updated fine, but can't recall if the Air did or not.

Remember having this issue with 10.6.3 on my MacBook Air on Lion, before I updated to ML.

This one is trying to be cryptic.

That error message can sometimes occur at the end of a chain of error messages ... do you get any earlier messages? If so, what do they say?

No, I did not get any messages before that. But the one thing I noticed was that after some progress, it said "roll back action" and decreased the progress bar back to 0%. Then, it gave me the error message.

Hmmm.

Did the rollback seem to be during the Apple Mobile Device Support stage of the install, or a different point?

throwing my reply in regards to my reply. i tried the download from software page and install.. seemed to work.. odd how this happens sporadically. hopefully you get it all straightened out CalvinatoR18.

I believe the rollback occurred when it was copying the files but I'm not sure though. I've shut down my PC since it's almost 12. I'll retry the installation and report back sometime tomorrow. Thanks for helping me so far tonight.

Ok, so I tried again today and it did rollback after copying new files. It said copying new files, then it said updating component registation, then copying new files again, then rolling back action, and then, finally, the error message I got last time.

Still same issue here. Same error message. I've had this issue before 10.7, I'm stuck on 10.6.0.4 for several months now. I ordered an Iphone 5 from Apple, hopefully their support will help me with it.

That roll back with Apple Mobile Device Support is happening in my machine.

Dunno what to do, because it installed normally on previous versions of iTunes

Did you ever find a fix? I've been trying for 2 weeks now and still having the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 (64) on my home computer.

I was able to download it onto my work computer (which is XP) and onto my husbands's computer (which is also Windows 7, but he didn't have iTunes loaded before), but my home computer is still giving me that same error message.
