Is there any way to contribute to Apple Maps?

I used to add new streets on Google Maps (through Map Maker), there is a similar way to add places to Apple Maps?

I need to add some streets and roads to Apple maps (country: Chile).

Thanks!

Since Apple is using TomTom maps I'd suggest checking with the TomTom site and see if they allow this.

Thanks deggie - yes, I found that. Interestingly, both errors i have found so far seem to be in the tomtom data - hard to blame apple for that! Have reported them both via maps app, and will report them to tomtom as well, though unfortunately not from my iPad!

My question was more about trying to improve maps ability to find local businesses, restaurants, cafes, etc. trying to discover which databases the app uses to deliver that functionality. If I know how apple sources this info, I can help to improve my (and others') experience of maps... Beats the **** out of moaning about it :-)

That's good to know, though the main problem as far as I can see is not so much incorrect data about businesses and places of interest (though I guess that's there too), but missing data. Can't click on a flag if its not there!

I'm experimenting with adding things to yelp to see if that transfers to maps. Yelp says that new entries take 48 hours to appear on their service, so I don't imagine it will be quicker in maps...

Macworld had an article describing how to report problems with the Maps in IOS6. Apple hasn;t gone out of their way to publicize this and it's real easy to miss in the app.

If you peal back the map layer, at the top and almost impossible to see given the color scheme (it's circled in red below) is a ink to report problems.

Also there is another way to report errors about specific points that come up wrong. If you click blue icon on the label that comes up attached to a pin you'll get this

Use this to report problems about the specific location that came up, wrong name, wrong business type, etc.

I'm really pleased I've stumbled across this thread. I've just used the techniques explained above to update one or two incorrectly labelled venues in my Neighbourhood (Liverpool, UK). However, there are still a few locations and venues which, although correctly labelled, are positioned incorrectly. Does anyone know how I go about suggesting these venues etc are relocated correctly, or if I can suggest a venue that Maps isn't currently aware of? Cheers 🙂

If you drop a pin in the place a venue should be, you can report a problem from there and then go on to add the venue and it's relevant information (if you have it of course). All you need do is select "information is incorrect" from the list of available issues.

I'm very happy with this and intend to fully survey my neighbourhood to make sure no one can criticise Apple Maps in the area I live in lol 🙂

I live in Lima, Perú.

I updated my iPad II to iOS6, and then found that lots of information is missing. So, last Wednesday I started making corrections to lots of labels close to where I live, and adding some other, but nothing has happened..

Does anyone know what is the revision time for this process?

The problem with the current solution is that it seems as if you are talking to a Wall (no feedback). I think there should be a “Thank you“ screen, telling you something like “Your suggestion will be reviewed, and in X days we will get back to you“...

Maybe I need to move to California so my Map works 🙂

For what it's worth, my experience.

I submitted about two dozen error corrections (all but one regarding erroneous or missing Points of Interest) over the past few days. Was curious to see how long it will take Apple to pick up the corrections, so I kept checking the Maps app daily. Low and behold, today my area (Jersey City and Hoboken, across the river from NYC) appeared with much, much improved satellite photos and in glorious, spectacularly good and accurate 3D!

Good to see Apple making improvements, even though I never really had any substantive problems with the app.

Only one of the POI errors was corrected, however. It would be interesting to know if Apple is dependent on the data providers (Yelp, etc) for making the corrections or can Apple make them in-house? Anyone knows for sure how this works?
