Q: Nano 6th generation cannot restore.  iTunes sees ipod needing to be put in restore, but can't load the 1.2 iOS.  Any suggestions?

My nano stopped working :-(.  Screen was dark, resetting with wake/sleep+volume down wasn't successful.  But, iTunes see the ipod and says it need to prepare it for recovery - love that.  Then, it appears with serial number and says it must be restored.  Do restore.  Says will restart - then returns to "need to prepare to restore"... endless loop.

I've run out of the warranty.  Any suggestions?

Do you have any other devices connected via USB to your PC or Mac? If so, it could be causing device driver conflicts.  Trying removing all other USB devices (minus the keyboard and mouse if applicable), rebooting your PC, and then attempting to restore the Nano again.

I assume iTunes is up to date (10.7)?
