Find my iPhone
I'm trying the "Find my iPhone" feature and the device on the map is actually 1/2 a mile away. Is this typical and why is the accuracy way off?

The positioning is based on a number of factors, including GPS, crowd-sourced wifi, and nearby cell towers. The accuracy depends on the availability of these factors, although unless you're in a remote location without these triangulation sources a 1/2 mile error is unusual.
