Well , fingers crossed ....iTunes 11 installed and two successful wifi syncs to an iPhone so far !!

Same here and the iPhone now shows up in the devices even when it isn't plugged in.  This appears to have fixed the syncing issue for me.

I was having same problem. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it then I reset my iPhone and iPad. It got rid of my problem. Nw if I could only get iTunes to sync all appointments in my outlook calendar and tasks I would be in heaven.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.  iTunes 11 installed, first sync flawless.  Next sync "iTunes could not sync information to the iphone "Jack's iPhone" because a connection to the iPhone could not be established".  So for me, the problem remains - unable to sync outlook info on an intermittent basis.  I've given up on backup to my computer and just use the cloud.  Have to say, my willingness to mess with apple is rapidly going away.  This problem is pervasive (based on the number of views to this thred) and I have no reason to believe that it is being addressed.  Can you say Droid?

    Sing it, brother!

And even when iTunes does sync with an iGadget, it *still* doesn't sync Outlook calendars properly. Apple refuses to reccognize what millions of Outlook users already know: the default calendar is different from the add-on iTunes calendar, and you can't simply replace one with the other. (But that's another thread.)

That's one thing about MobileMe that I miss: it used to sync with Outlook properly, but iCloud does not.

I'm seriously thinking about Blackberry 10 next year. I wish I hadn't  done a Verizon upgrade this year. I like my iPhone & iPad but I want them to do what apple said they would. No android for me. I'm a faithful outlook user and don't want to change now.

Yes, Jim. That is also a MAJOR issue that has frustrated the **** out of me for a long time. You're right. Apple just does not care about that about the Outlook calendar sync issue.

I am still having problem with iTunes 11. Synching is unreliable over WiFi. Pluggin into USB is also flakey. The apps I deleted from iTunes aren't removed from my iPhone or iPad. I'm not sure what it is synching. I think that running iTunes also takes up too much processing power. My laptop fan seems to stay on too higher whenever I have it running. I haven't bothered to try to track this down. It's been very frustrating for a long time now.

I seem to recall that at some point after the ios 5.1 update, my Outlook 2007 calendar events stopped syncing with my iphone and ipad. It's still the same way with ios 6 and itunes 11. Weird thing though is that when I included my facebook friends birthdays on my ios devices they do sync to Outlook. I just can't sync events I create on either my ios devices or Outlook to sync either way. I've removed the iCloud add in Outlook thinking it had something to do with that. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and reset both my ios devices, but still no correct sync.  This worked flawlessly up until this Spring. I have to think it relates to an update or bug with Apple software and is a problem with the Microsoft Exchange and iCloud also. Everyone is complaining about it in forums.

Numerous fixes are suggested throughout this thread - so let me add one that I hadn't seen (in the first 70 or 80 replies).

I use Windows 7x64, and have just updated to iTunes 11. Still get the cannot sync / connect issue for my iPhone4, iPod (can't remember how old that one is), and the now extinct formerly latest version of the iPad.

The problem is temporarily fixed by stopping and re-starting the Apple Mobile Device Service. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567.

I have to do this each and every time before trying to sync my devices. But it is better than having no syncing at all.

Hope this helps some of you having this issue.

When you cannot sync, do you mean wirelessly or not at all?

  • davidewart45 Level 1 Level 1

Should have been clearer. I meant syncing using using the USB cable. Not sure if Wifi works

  • GordWM Level 1 Level 1

Thanks.  Haven't had any problems syncing with the USB cable, but wifi is hit and miss.

Not a fix (yet), but just interesting, I have had all the above problems and tried all the above soutions, and get intermittent and different results with all of it, just like everybody, on Iphone 4s, ipad2, and three ipods4.  Now just today I got my new iPad Mini, wi-fi, 32Gb, and it seems to sync and backup just fine, even when I request a manual backup in the middle of doing other things, while setting it up.  I do have sync over wi-fi turned off and have not yet tested wi-fi sync, but will let everybody know what happens when I do.  Even more interesting, I plugged in my iphone 4s to the usb in the middle of all this, and it backed up and synced (again I say USB) just like it used to before the 10.7 upgrade, even after itunes had been running on the computer for hours.  All because I plugged in a BRAND NEW (latest) Apple device ??? I doubt it, but so far that is the only thing I have changed and I have been following this thread since the start.  Hope to keep everybody updated. Actually expecting everything to go bad again tomarrow like all the other "fixes" have, but we shall see.

I continue to have the syncing problem with my iPhone 5 under Win7x64. The only thing that works consistently for me is to plug it in, in airplane mode, while the computer is starting, or immediately thereafter.
