Yes on 1st question No on second. The ipad chager can be used for either device. The iphone charger can only be used on the iphone as it is a lower wattage output and will never charge the ipad. That is the reason why they put the 10 watt charger in the ipad because of the larger battery.

The iPad charger is compatible with every mobile device that Apple makes. Look it up in the Apple Store.
The iPhone charger will just charge the iPad, if the iPad is not being used. Really inadequate, as only half the power.
The best supplier of a long cable is the one you find on the internet. Do not overlook the idea of a mains extension for a few pounds/dollars/whatever to move the charge closer to the device.
