Q: Mirroring mac to my tv

I have 13" macbook pro, manufactured mid 2012. I have the latest apple tv. Everything works fine (airplay from iPhone, accessing itunes from apple tv). The only thing I can't seem to do is mirror my macbook to my HDTV. The airplay icon doesn't appear on my toolbar or in "system preferences>displays" menu. Can anyone tell me why?

Hi,

Just to be sure, are you also running Mountain Lion on your MacBook Pro? This function have been introduce with 10.8.

Salut,

My macbook pro is not mountain lion, its just a lion 10.7.4. Though if that is the problem and its possible to upgrade the software to mountain lion i would be willing to try it?

Salut,

Yes, you had to upgrade to get this function. You can purchase Mountain Lion through the Mac App Store. Since it an OS upgrade, it is important to have a backup in case something go wrong during the update.
