Feb 3, 2015 6:18 PM in response to LeannMartin1by tattooedjock,Ditto. Just tried to FT my friend on my iPhone 6 and got some random stranger. So do the gremlins at Apple never bother to check these discussion sites. This problem appears to be unique to Facetime.

Feb 7, 2015 6:49 PM in response to LeannMartin1by Vitor S.,Hi all,
For me angel13 had the solution. I was freaked that this happened but he nailed it.
Please check your contact (the one you are calling) if they have older phone numbers or even old email addresses. For me, what happened, is that my mom had a US pre-paid sim that I saved to her contacts. After the sim wasn't used for a couple months, T-mobile deactivated the SIM and gave the number to someone else. That's what happened - FaceTime was calling this old number, and the totally stranger was answering.
Removing the old number should fix this. Not a bug, not Apple's fault, but maybe Apple should tie better the phone number to Apple IDs so this doesn't happen. that's what I think.

Feb 24, 2015 3:15 AM in response to LeannMartin1by ieatrainbows,Happened with my friend, I face timed my friend and he answered. We talked for about 1 hour. After we hung up I received an incoming call that had my friends caller ID but when I answered it was a random person saying they had a missed call from me. Now it is happening when my partner calls me. He selects face time from my contact in his phone and sometimes a random Mexican woman answers. Very odd

Feb 27, 2015 9:49 AM in response to LeannMartin1by jamster777,I've been having this problem when making FaceTime calls from my MacBook, but it usually calls someone else in my contact list. For instance, today I went into my FT application and found my husband on the recent calls lists and clicked the little camera icon next to his name to FT him, and the application said "Calling AT&T" which is one of my contacts. The really crazy part is that it didn't call AT&T, it actually called another person on my contact list that is neither my husband nor AT&T. Oddly, I've never had this problem on my iPhone, but I have a different FT related problem with it, which I why I still use my MacBook even though dialing is like playing roulette. This is an incredibly serious problem for an application designed to call people to not call the right person.

Mar 5, 2015 4:03 AM in response to LeannMartin1by Banco248,Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
Today I have tried calling my Dad 3 times, and each time I've been connected to the same person who definitely isn't my Dad. The last time I called I tried to ask him to tell me what his FT contact details were but before I could talk to him he was shouting for me never to contact him again... I thought "dude, your details can't be the same as my Dad's and I've been calling for years with this contact info". Anyway, he put the phone down on me.
Interestingly, my dad called just after and said he had a missed call from me which makes it even more weird. I decided to return his call from the previous incoming record... guess what, I got the rather annoyed chap from earlier again - he was even more annoyed... simpleton.
Anyway, if anyone has a resolution for this I would be delighted to hear it.

Mar 5, 2015 6:01 AM in response to Banco248by Vitor S.,Hey Banco248,
Did you see my post or angel13's? For me this was the solution.
First, try calling the number directly and see if it works. Don't use Siri, recent calls or any thing that aggregates a contact (this way it will call any number/email on the contact). Call the number specifically, directly.
Check your dad's contact on your phone. Scan for old numbers, even if you think it's his. Old numbers might have been disconnected and given to other people by carriers (that was my case). Check if his email is spelled right for example. I know it sounds silly, but I was in your situation, I was sure of everything, only to realize a temp SIM card number on my mom's contact.
If all this is correct, then my only thought is that the other person had access to your dad's account, which would be the scary part. That was my first thought, but I was glad later to find my own mistake. Hope it helps.

Mar 5, 2015 11:04 PM in response to Vitor S.by Banco248,Great, thanks Vitor S - There was an Australian number on his contact card... I have removed this now... I have managed 1/1 successfull call now. Hopefully next time will be a success too.
Again, thanks for pointing me in that direction - I had checked, but I didn't realise that the carriers re-issue numbers - I still have the SIM card in case my folks ever head back to Australia, obviously the number now belongs to someone else.

Jul 17, 2015 5:19 PM in response to LeannMartin1by justwonerful,I am also having this issue, but it seems like my family face times random people in my call list instead. One time my mom called my friend who she has never met. This seems like huge, ongoing Security Breach in that random people can access my contact information. This seems random in nature so someone should really start looking into the issue.

Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM in response to justwonerfulby a.5050,This is a really strange bug. Why would FaceTime call wrong people? Apple should look into this as soon as possible.

Sep 10, 2015 6:52 AM in response to Vitor S.by Danielle Smit,Vitor S had it right:
For me this worked:
"Please check your contact (the one you are calling) if they have older phone numbers or even old email addresses. Removing the old number should fix this"

Dec 14, 2015 5:15 AM in response to tattooedjockby dcoffey,The same thing just happened to me on my macbook pro connecting to my wife's mac book pro. I only facetime with her so I only have one person in my recent calls. I clicked on her name and got connected to a stranger who was just as surprised as I was. I re-clicked on her name and connected to the right place. She said that it had been ringing on her end, she just couldn't pick up in time. This issue has nothing to do with the wrong address/phone number. There is a bug somewhere and is a real problem Apple!

Jan 16, 2016 2:57 AM in response to LeannMartin1by Cgrandyrn,I Am having this problem too. I live in Canada and am face timing my mother who is on vacation in Arizona and both times got some random American kid who has clearly become suspicious of me! This is a real security problem and needs to be addressed quickly Apple!

Apr 23, 2016 11:54 PM in response to Vitor S.by Missnk,Tried Vitor S's solution, didn't work for me because I didn't have any old numbers stored for hubby (one mobile and one landline with area code). Facetime kept on calling another Aussie woman. After a while, it seemed like it fixed itself (I also tried to actively avoid calling via facetime). We signed into apple ID and checked everything and even changed passwords.
It happened again a couple months later.
My Solution which worked for me:
Delete the Facetime contact in Favourites and re-add the contact again.
When I deleted the Facetime contact, I went into 'Recent's'. The last call I had made to the random Aussie woman (which was previously marked with hubbys name) now changed to a random mobile number that I had never seen before. Somehow, face time was linking her mobile number with the Facetime contact in the background.

May 17, 2016 6:57 AM in response to Missnkby pd73,This worked for me too. Same intermittent problem described by others. I only had one phone number in my mother's contact info - or so I thought. when I deleted it, an older contact record popped up with an older number cell she used to use. Deleted that (and her old land line) hopefully this will fix the issue!
