Using Safari, I was redirected somehow to a website identified as classifieds.takequiz.net while trying to search Craigslist. A box popped up telling me I am a winner and asking me to click "OK". I cannot get rid of the popup or the website. I have tried restarting, but the website still remained when I statred Safari. How do I get rid of this website?

You seem to have clicked 'okay'.   Bit late perhaps to remind you this is not a wise thing to do with sites you don't know and Craigs list is not unknown for diversions like this.   Nor do you have your pop up blocker on ... or private browsing?

First things first; If you have clam XAV scan your system.  If you haven't, download it (It's free) ... and scan your system.

Oh, and read this ...Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection

Thanks. I will try clam XAV. By the way, I did not click OK. I should add that after quitting Safari and waiting several minutes, Safari came up without the nuisance website.

Hooray!   That's encouraging.   I think Clam XAV (a necessary tool for your tool box) will probably be enough to reassure you.

Glad I was of some help; thanks for the star.
