why did i get charged $10.96 for a $0.99 app??

Did you make any in-app purchases in the app ? If you think that you've been incorrectly charged then you can try contact iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

Also double-check the app price. $10.96 sounds a lot like $9.99 + tax.
