Not enough local storage to update an app. Yet when I go to settings it indicates plenty of avail space.

I'm trying to download updates for some apps but I get a message that there is not enough "local storage" on this device. Yet when I go to settings, it indicates that I have 25 with 23.oo available. What does this mean?

Are you sure that it doesn't state 25GB of storage with 23.8GB used? That's how mine reads .... The storage available and what is used. If that is the case, you might not have enough space left to update all of the apps.

See if you can update one or two instead of all of them. I never select Update All. I update one at a time.

How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

One cause of being unable to download an update and not having sufficient space stems from the fact that updating from the iPad actually reinstalls the entire app before removing the existing installation. So if you have a 2GB app, you will need 2 more gigs of space aside from the space used for the current install. Update the app through iTunes and sync your iPad to the computer to avoid this issue.

So does anyone know how to get more LOCAL storage? I just added iCloud storage and it didn't help. I even used the iCloud as my means of backup on my iPad and a movie still won't load... HELP! It says there isn't enough local storage. I can't delete anymore apps, movies, and shows without being disappointed with this product. Can you GET more local storage? If not, how do you use iCloud storage to watch a movie that is already purchased and on both of my home computers, but can't be viewed on my iPad?

Thank you!
