I have some pictures that are 3.1 mb and need them to be 2mb how can I go about doing this😕

The Quality Setting is the one that has most effect on the size of the file.

Which version of OS X are you using? In the newer systems versions you can hold down the option key ⌥ to change the "Duplicate" command ander "File" into "Save as". http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/27/enable-save-as-os-x-mountain-lion/
Select the photo(s) and export using the various quality and dimension options to achieve your goal

While LarryHN's meethod will work, it may take a bit of trial and error. That is you may have to try several different settings before you stumble upon the one that results in your desired file size. For more control, try this:

There is no <Save As> under <File> when saving with Preview.
That's the problem with 5 year old threads, things change.
Does anyone have a suggestion, helpful hints?
