While LarryHN's meethod will work, it may take a bit of trial and error. That is you may have to try several different settings before you stumble upon the one that results in your desired file size. For more control, try this:

  • Select the image in iPhoto and from the File menu, select <Export>
  • From the <Kind> field, select <Original> then click <Export>
  • In the next pop-up window, choose the Desktop as the location, and click "OK"
  • Find your photo on the Desktop and Right Click - select <Open With> then <Preview>
  • From Preview's <File> menu, select <Save As>
  • From the <Format> field, select <JPEG>
  • Look near the bottom of the Save As window and you will see the File Size; watch the file size change as you drag the Quality slider from left to right. When it says 2 MB, click Save.
