I dropped my iPhone and now it won't turn on

Hi All,

I dropped my iPhone this morning and now it won't turn on. It was fully charged. Originally, I could see that when I pressed the buttons the screen would light up faintly (although nothing was showing on the screen). I then pressed and held the home button and the on/off button to reset it. After I did this nothing happened and the screen no longer lights up faintly. It is completly dead. Does anyone have any solutions for me? Any other tricks I can try?

Don't waste your time trying to figure out the possibilities if you're a noob in this field. Just contact Apple and get them to help you. Most of your phones should still be covered under the warranty. Just contact them and say the battery is getting drained and now it won't turn on. Apple care is really helpful. But the guys in the stores are not. Always contact apple care and get their advice for options before you visit the stores, the guys in the stores will always try to sell you something. I visited a store and they tried to get me to buy a replacement for $400.00, but I contacted apple care and they helped me with my problem free of charge.

Apple if you're reading this, please don't try discipline the guys in apple care for actually helping the customers. Don't cheap out on us and look for areas for more profit, you guys are already rich.

I dropped my Otter Box-encased iPhone 6 (fully charged) from 3 feet to a tile floor, and it went absolutely dead. Wouldn't turn on. Took it to the AT&T store where I bought it, they tried these tricks, no dice. Told me to drive it 90 miles away to my nearest Apple store. Took it there, the repair guy wasn't on duty, the desk guy pressed all the same buttons the AT&T guy and I had pressed, for the same amount of time. No dice. Wait-- it gets even worse.

Next day, went back to the AT&T store to upgrade to a 7+ (and got a new iPad). While the tech guy was synching my phone and iPad, it claimed I had NEVER backed up my iPhone, BUT-- my old iPad had been backed up. Relief! Since it had been synched with my iPhone 6, my photos taken with my dead iPhone 6 were still on it. BUT...gradually, my photos disappeared from my old iPad. And when the tech went back to check, my new iPhone was showing my old iPad had NEVER been backed up.

With the history of back-ups erased on my old equipment, years' worth of my pictures have now disappeared.

I dropped my iPhone 5s and now it's dead. If I plug it into an electrical source, it's flashes the logo screen on and off. If I plug it into my laptop, and hold down the home button and the lock button at the same time for 10 second and then release the lock button but continue holding the home button for another 10 seconds, iTunes will recognize the iPhone. It prompts me to. "Restore" and I do. It extracts the software and then attempts to restore. I get this error message, "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (4005)" I have tried all the other things mentioned here like holding both buttons for 20 to 30 seconds but no joy. Please help me!!!

To prevent something like this from happening in the future, you should be importing (not just backing up) your photos to your computer. If you had years' worth of photos on your device, then a backup wouldn't have them either unless they were all on the camera roll.

An iOS device is not a place to safely store photos that are important to you. They should be imported regularly, and the computer's hard disk should be backed up to an external drive as well.

Best of luck,

There is no way for us to help you with what appears to be a hardware problem on a user to user support forum. Have you taken it to Apple to see what they think? If the repair shop you took it to opened the device, then Apple will not look at it, but if not, then I would suggest you get their opinion. But it is going to require a hands-on inspection.

Did you try contacting apple care? You probably still have warranty for the phone, and if you didnt, try to purchase it..

You can't "purchase" the warranty. It is a limited warranty for the Apple device/computer that comes with the device/computer. You can purchase AppleCare up to 60 days after your purchase. However, that is subject to the device being inspected, and if it is not working as it should, you won't be able to purchase AppleCare.

I know this is already solved, but I had a similar issue with a different cause. I dropped my 5s flat on its face and it refused to turn on, even with hard reset. Strangely, it also didn't register with my computer when I connected it. My digitizer was loose, and I had to take off the screen and re-secure the digitizer connection. This fixed both problems--the phone turned on, and it was recognized by my computer.
