I'm wondering if a Macbook pros battery can overcharge as friends and family tell me so. Can someone confirm, or debunk this? As I need to use my Mac constantly for work, and therefore either need it to be plugged in or last long without if I have to.

when your battery is fully charged - click on your apple logo - about this mac - more info - system report - power and have a look at the charging section - you'll notice that if your battery is fully charged - the charging system stops - to avoid/prevent from overcharging.
