iPod shuffle doesn't shuffle anymore?.

Hello... My 3rd generation shuffle stops playing after 10-15 songs and reverts back to the first song I listened to...it won't let me listen to my other songs on my playlist except for the ones I've already listened to...so in essence I can only listen to the 10-15 songs... Any ideas?
