Will my iPhone 4 backup install on an iPhone 5?

I'm wondering, will my iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 backup install/restore when I get a new iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0 without any problems?

Yes. When you set up your new phone just choose to restore from your backup rather than set it up as a new iPhone.

As noted, I have the same question. I use iCloud to backup my iPhone 4S, so I suspect that an iPhone 4S backup, whether it be from ICloud or from my iMac, will suffice.

Anyone have any experience with anything different? Those are the only choices from backups, so it would help finalize this discussion, if someone could respond to both modes.

You can restore to the backup of any iPhone model (in fact, you can restore to the backup of an iPad or iPod Touch). The only requirement is that the device you are restoring to is running the same or higher version of iOS as the one you backed up. (You cannot restore a backup from a device running a higher version of iOS than the device you are restoring to.)
