You go to https://www.icloud.com on your computer, sign into your iCloud account and click on Find My iPhone to track it. The app you downloaded on your phone is for tracking other devices, not your phone.
The Find My iPhone app is for finding another iOS device with your iPhone.
Without an iCloud account, you can't find your iPhone or make use of the other features.
