install quicktime pro 7 on leopard

It's technically already installed. QuickTime Pro is enabled by entering your activation code in the QT 7 Player.

First purchase a QT 7 Pro key. You will receive an email with your activation code. Do not lose this email! It's the only one you'll get with your key on it. Print out a hard copy to be safe. It is retrievable for a certain amount of time (a couple of years), but after that, you can't get that info from Apple's site.

Open the QT 7 Player in the Utilities folder and select QuickTime 7 Player > Registration. Enter the Registered To:, Organization: (if you used one), and Registration code: fields exactly as they appear in the email. Press Enter after the code and the icon at the left should change to show it's the Pro version.

It won't be in the Utilities folder on Mac OS X 10.5.8, as there is only one QuickTime application for that OS version. It's straight in the Applications folder.

Download QT 7.7 for Leopard here.

Once you've got it, open the QuickTime pane of System Preferences and apply the code. The registration process is different in 10.5.8 and earlier than newer OS versions.

That's right! Forgot it wasn't in the QT prefs before Snow Leopard.

Install the version of QT7 I linked to, and it should put the Preference Pane back.

That's weird. The software I linked to is supposed to be for Leopard. But try Software Update and see what it says.

Curiosity question. You say "Leopard" in your posts, but you're in the Snow Leopard forums. Are you running OS X 10.5.x, or 10.6.x?

If it's 10.6.x, then the link I gave you is the wrong one and it will not install. Assuming you're actually running Snow Leopard, then you need this version.
