Q: How do I sync iPhone 5 with Mac G5 OS 10.5.8?

Why is it that the more "points" and titles people have on these forums, the more they bully. belittle. and condescend to question askers? It's the same on the Microsoft help forms. If perfectly legitimate questions enrage you, why do you keep coming back?

You're not asking a question. You're ranting. Insanely it seems, and in a most trollish fashion.

Buy PhoneView.  Its by a company called ecamm and it works really well.  Thankfully this company included PPC support, stepping in to help us when Apple turned its back on us. 

I've also been playing around with YDL and Debian.  Debian's OS is coming along really well on PPC.  You can use Linux software libraries (much like the Mac Store we can't use) to download apps that support iPhone 5 as well. 

I love my Power Mac G5.  It runs awesomely. 

I'm tired of people telling me its time to buy a new Mac.  My Power Mac is technically better than, and much more expandable than a brand new Mac Mini. 

Windows XP can still sync with iPhone 5.  But Apple hangs me, who bought this thing for $3000 out to dry. 

This is how I transferred my music from iTunes 10.6.3 (Mac 10.5.8) to iPhone 5 through iCloud.  (Make an iCloud account if you don`t have one)

If you have an old iPhone, connect it to iTunes . The phone shows under DEVICES.

(You need to connect an old I phone so that you can get to Backup option: Back up to iCloud).

Make a new playlist unde PLAYLISTS and copy all of your songs into that playlist.

Press on your iPhone under Devices, check on Backup up to iCloud under Backup.

When you now go to Music app on your new phone, there you should see  your playlist with all of your songs. When you open Music, press "More" in the buttom, then choose shared, here you shold see your library. Choose your Library to have your songs visible in music app.

Sorry for my bad English, but I thought that this could help some of you who have old Mac and can`t upgrade to newest iTunes to use with iPhone 5.

You mean this is how you redownloaded your music from iTunes in the cloud. Nothing was transferred/uploaded from yoru computer to iCloud.

What?

This backs up your iPhone to iCloud. It does not get anything from iCloud to iPhone.

Except that you won't. This does not transfer music from computer to iPhone.

These are simply all your iTunes purchases. You don't need to do anything (create playlists) on your computer to see this.

I just tried this on my wife's trusty old iMac G5, and got a message that this software is not compatible with this architecture. Is there a special version of Phoneview that I should be looking for?

Exactly. This does not allow syncing of your entire music library as suggested. Unfortunately.

If you sync your enire iTunes library, it will sync everything.

If the songs are not in your iTunes (but still show uner Purchases), you will need to donwlaod them to your computer to sync them to the iPhone.

Or you can just download them in iTunes (from iTunes in the Cloud) on your iPhone.

You can't. Because you need the latest version of itunes and in order to run the latest version of itunes you need OSX 10.6.8. And 10.6.8 is not compatible on the G5. Upgrade your hardware to a new pc.

First I did the iOS upgrade on an iPhone 4, took off the music to do it.  Then they told me my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 wouldn't be able to use iTunes 11.

Meaning I can't sync anything, because I backed up the phone to the computer, not the cloud—no warning there might be a problem.  Nor can I back down the iOS, although Apple could certainly provide that.  Is this really how you treat loyal customers?  There's a recession on, but apparently not in Cupertino.

Would erasing the whole phone let me sync with the computer again, I wonder?

No. You need to update to at least 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.

Another Idea and one Im going to try soon is an app called INFUSE and or VLC .. they may be able to do transfers like movies...

I recently went thru something similar while setting up my sister's new iPhone 5c with her iBook G4. It's not a perfect solution, but check out PhoneView. There is a version that is compatible with PowerPC Macs running Leopard & it works very well. PhoneView will let you backup pretty much anything from your iPhone to your Mac. When it comes to sending music (& video as well) from your Mac to your phone, the trick is to install an app on the iPhone that can handle music, such as iDownloader. You can then copy the audio files to your phone by selecting the app in the apps tab in PhoneView. It adds a couple of extra steps if you want to have all of your music in one place, but it's definitely a cheaper solution than buying a new Mac.
