Q: passbook doesn't work

Its odd from my iphone 4s i get the error but on my wife's iphone 4 it works fine.  she clicks the "app store" icon in the passbook at it take her to a list of available passbook apps.

Same issue here...Apple is known for making their products completely intuitive and this is anything but...very disappointed in the user experience.  Why release it if their infrastructure isn't ready for us to play with it?

So update.

Upgraded Iphone 4s to IOS6 and went to passbook. Click app store - get the error message

Upgraded IPOD touch last generation model, went to Passbook and then App store - I see the following apps. Fandango, Live Nation, Lufthansa, MLB.com, Sephora to Go, Ticketmaster and Walgreens.

I guess the vendors are uprading the apps now to work with Passbook

Now that I have the Walgreens one all set, I can no longer access the Passbook apps on the app store - I am assuming there will be a category for them, but in the meantime, anyone know of a list that is being updated as time passes?

Changing the date and time fixed it. It doesn't appear to be acting like an application wallet right now, but it is at least working.

Wait a minute... do you actaully have to have an "app" of the store, airline or ticket compnay in orderto import coupons, gift cards, tickets, etc?

THAT IS TOTALLY LAME if that is the case. Just becuase I have a Target gift card doesn't mean I want to download the Target app!!!

That is what im thinking that you have to have the app to use passbook which is stupid.  They should have done something like Key Ring. I scan my card and im done.  if I need it I click on it and then the store scans it and im good.  If I have to download all of the apps to have it in passbook thats nuts.

This worked for me now the passbook opens to itunes store where you have to download the apps to use them with passbook.  I ordered a movie ticket via fandango but its not in passbook so IDK if I have to wait until I get near the theater or what.

This worked for me!! Not entirely sure why... But it did!

The time/date fix worked for me, I was able to set it back to automatic after I opened Passbook for the first time.  It looks like this issue is only with the 4s, my managers 4 worked fine from the start.

Well, that is super lame. This wasn't going to change my life... as much as Apple thinks it should but I thought it would be a cool app. In its present form, this will only make corporations like Target, Starbucks, Fandango more money. What about the gfift card to my friends record shop? He doesn't have an App for his store. Does that mean I can't scan in the gift card and put it with the rest? I don't want to have a Macy's app just becuase I get a Macy's gift card for Christmas!

I was able to add my best buy card, petsmart, petco, gamestop cards all via a website called, Passsource.com.

You manually add your information and click the add button, once you have hit add you can go to your passbook app and your apps will now be in there.

According to the youtube video I watched this is how it had to be done for the beta version of passbook, but work now for today's update (9/19/12).

There were ways to manually create your own or pre-set ones for stabucks, blockbuster, cvs, ikea, etc.

Thanks that is helpful and I saw that Youtube video, too. Iw as just nervous trusting a third party I never heard of to enter gift card numbers in. Didn't that seem weird to you?

I didn't enter any gift card numbers. Only my store discount cards.

I know this is not a great solution for everyones problem, but at least I was able to see how passbook works and kill my curiosity.

I like everyone else am hoping this somehow it gets easier/more self explanitory.
