Broken Wireless - iOS 6 on iPhone 4S

I moved to iOS 6 and when my phone came up it could not connect to my home network. I did the following on the phone:

- Updated phone to iOS 6 from 5.1.1

- I thought maybe the network settings were messed up so I "forgot" the network and tried again, no luck.

- Reset all network settings, no luck.

- Full restore of iOS 6 and setup as a new phone (no data/apps/etc restored), no luck.

- Removed all encryption on my access point, no luck.

So I then setup a spare access point I had and the iPhone connected right away (even with the same SSID and encryption as my normal home access point). This indicates an incompatibility between iOS 6 and my access point.

It is not an encryption issue, because it can connect to an open, WEP, and WPA2 configuration on my spare access point without a problem. It can even connect to my Mini that is performing Internet Sharing.

The access point is a Netgear WG102 and before iOS 6 my iPhone 4S worked great on it. I also have an old 2gen iPod Touch, 1st gen iPad, Macbook Air, Mac Mini, etc, etc, etc on the access point with no issues. It's just my iPhone and iOS 6 that can't connect to it.

I did the following to the access point:

- running latest/greatest firmware

- changed RTS threshold, Frag length, Beacon Interval, DTIM interval, etc, with no luck.

- enabled WMM with no luck (which I saw fixed someone elses issue with a beta version of iOS 6 and their iPad)

- hard/factory reset of the access point (phone can't connect to the default and wide open "Netgear" SSID when it comes up)

The phone works on all other access points that I have tried outside my house.

Any thoughts?

Same problem here for me - after I enter my network password a new page opens up pm apple.com called "Log In" only I get the error message "Hmm, the page you're looking for can't be found."

This solution doesn't work for me either. There are two weird things:

1. When trying to connect to a SSID, it directs me to www.apple.com.

2. I can't enable the 'auto-join' under one SSID's detail page.

Mine also. My iPad 2 works fine. My 4S will connect to my wifi, then it goes to a login page on apple.com. Then says page cannot be found. And shuts my wifi off.

The problem is that the page iOS uses to ensure it has sucessfully connected to a WiFi network,

http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html is 404'ing.

I think until Apple replaces this page with a page that returns:

Though I'm having the same problem, this doesn't look that weird to me.

Have you ever connected to pay-per-use Wi-Fi hotspots? The full-screen Apple page looks exactly like the one I got last week when connecting to a (paid) Wi-Fi hotspot - which doesn't use (WPA/WEP) encryption but expects you to enter login credentials or make payment on a pretty standard web page.

I'm seeing this same behavior on my wife's iphone. My iphone, ipad, and her ipad all are working fine although they joined the home wifi a little earlier (finshed update them to io6 first).

The apple page appears to return "success" now

Just want to report that it seems the issue has been fixed. My iphone4 and new ipad can connect to wireless network now.

Happy to report that resetting network preferences seems to have resolved this for me - at least for now (without me having to manually enter things again as I have my Wifi login data provided by a configuration profile)

Had the same issue. Just recycled the power to the iPhone. Everything working fine now. Whew........

Apple fixed on their webservers the page http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html, which now should work for everyone... It not longer returns 404, and we are all happy again...

I had this same issue on both my iPhone and iPad. Resetting the network settings did not help. However, I then did a hard reset of both devices (hold power and home buttons untill it rebooted) and it fixed the problem for both.
