I have got the same iphone problem with the greyed out wifi. Just been to apple meadow hall store and they said it is not a software, but a phone problem. I bought the phone about 13 months ago, but it needed replacing 6 months ago due to a faulty speaker. They will not replace the phone ( although only 6 months old ) in store because it is out of warranty from the original purchase, so been told I will have to pay £129 to replace it. What a rip off. I've never had a faulty phone in 20 years, before buying the iphone, and have now had 2 in 13 months. I was intending to buy a new MacBook Pro this month, but guess I will spend my money elsewhere now. Nice one apple.

It certainly won't help you now, but after my granddaughter dropped her new iPod Touch the second week she had it and I paid 90% of the original cost to get it replaced, I always buy AppleCare Plus.  It is well worth it to have a much reduced replacement cost.  I wish you could get the Macbook Pro because it is so great.  Sorry for your high-coast hit.

I'm assuming that your from the Philippines, having the same problem i just updateD my phone from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 6.0.1 it already shows that Wi-Fi is already off but i can't toggled the off and on option i've been to MAC service center but they told me that they don't support iPhone they can just check/fix iPads/iPods it doesn't make sense right? because it's also their product why they don't support it?? I'm so ****** off i'm dealing with this for almost 2 weeks. hope that apple will came up with some solution or maybe they can open a service center that supports iPhone HAVING 1 YEAR WARRANTY IS USELESS!!!!

help me how can i turn on my wifi

I complained to Apple customer services about the £ 129 charge for replacing the greyed out wifi (iphone 4s), and they agreed to replace the phone for free.

I'm obviously pleased with the outcome, but the 90 day warranty is not much of a confidence booster. Why shouldn't a brand new replacement get a 12 month warranty like any other new product?

No wifi here so that's what I'm doing tomorrow having Apple replaced my iPhone 5 with a new one. Actually I may go back to a 4GS I don't like the 5, just way to many problems.

    Hi everyone,

been following this topic since a few days now, and tried all the tips and tricks available… nothing worked!

at last i tried the airplane mode on and setoff|restart and was finally able the switch the on the WiFi again. The little wheel on top keeps running, but no local network could be found. getting desperate about this. Even the last iOS6 update didn't help. My phone just ran out of Gaurantee!! Belgium is not an Apple country as they call it… support is not that flexible for iPhones at that point.

So, I guess the solution is to just get with Apple, and try to get a new phone? I'm having the same problem with my 4S, suspiciously after I updated to OS 6.1.2 this morning. Tried everything.

There a tons of Hocus-Pocus remidies htat range from doing resets to wrapping your phone in a towel and putting it in the freezer!  The common denominator in ALL of them involves turning the phone of for a minimum of 5 minutes and turning it back on.

This is ALL I did and it solved my problem.  Perhaps I was just lucky, so here is a link to the steps sugested by Apple that I was able to ovid by simply tunring the thing off and back on.

My iPhone 4S suddenly had a Wifi connection problem. After a poweroff and -on the Wifi switch turned in grey and it was not possible to enable the Wifi anymore. Seaching on the internet and Apple support brings me to this discussion, but after trying multiple times all the given (realistical) solutions in this topic including 10 minutes power-off and a long night it ends to the same result, a grey wifi switch. Today just think, what the hack, lets try that crazy solution of putting the phone a while in the refrigerator. I turned the iPhone in Flight mode, powered the device off and left him for about a half hour in the refrigerator. Well, after the power on, I was able to turn on the Wifi again. Very strange, but this works for me.
