How do I setup passbook?

How do I get my existing cards from an app like CardStar into Passbook? It looks like Passbook is non-functional except for a broken link to the app store as of 1500 EST (admittedly only 2 hours after iOS 6 launched but still, launching with broken apps isn't like Apple).

@Doth - I just noticed something about the Starbucks app that I was using that I got to work with Passbook...I was using iOS 6 GM developer seed rather than the official build. This probably got me access to Starbuck's beta build maybe. Not really sure though. When I accessed the app store through passbook using the GM, Starbucks was right there and was the only app. I think they may have shut down the beta build for Starbucks to block access to that version when iOS 6 official came out. Well, that theory anyway.

Actually, Passbook does work. There are currently 11 apps that are compatible. You just need to set your time and date ahead a year. Access passbook and tap on app store. You will see a list of them.

Fandango

MLB.com at Bat

MBL.com at the ballpark

Sephora to Go

Target

Walgreens

American Airlines

United Airlines

Ticket Master

Live Nation

Lufthansa

After you can see the list of apps, change the date and time back to auto.

Thanks but... the app just opens to the introduction page everytime... even when I tap app store, then download one of the compatible / suggested apps, opened the apps then closed the apps then opened the apps again... etc... nothing... not just my phone... (4S)

It's ultimately confusing, and not easy to understand what to do to make it work. So... in my eyes, it's not ready for prime time... I'm not trying to be a jerk, it's just not like Apple to make something so half-arsed...

When you start with a new update such as iOS 6, there is a walkthrough, as there is with many apps that require a bit of setup. Passbook has nothing like that, and for me as an IT professional, I'm trying to make a very valid point that for my users and clients, it's a small fail, but a fail for now, none-the-less.

@Doth,

You're not in the right place if those are the apps you are seeing. See ARWillett's post, a few posts down from your's.

Also, there is a glitch in Passbook. If you are getting the "Cannot connect to iTunes" error, go into Settings > General > Date & Time. Turn off Set Automatically then manually go in and change the date to one year into the future. Double-click the home button and go back into Passbook and click the App Store again and you should see it come up. Don't forget to go back in and set your Date & Time back to automatic. Also, you will have to go in and turn your iMessages back to ON, if that's what you prefer. For some reason once you change the date back and forth your iMessages turn off.

I am trying to understand how to use the passbook. I downloaded target app and recieved coupons. Every time i open the passbook app, Target coupons open automatically. Why does this happen? I am 90 miles from the nearest target store. How can I see anything else in the passbook app as target is all I see?

Maybe I am doing something wrong or a setting that I don't see/ Any suggestions?

How do I setup passbook?
