Podcast Playlists in IOS6?

Thank you, I will do just that when I get home tonight, and keep listening to my playlists. I thought I was weird mixing up my podcasts, but I see I'm not the only one. 🙂

I've successfully reverted, but i can't figure out how to control playback speed in the music app in ios6... for audiobooks or podcasts - any suggestions?

For me, on my iPhone 4, for podcasts at least, looking in portait mode but NOT in landscape mode, I see it at the topright of the screen, under the number that says how much time remains unplayed.

There's a little pale button with a 1X in it, which if clicked changes to an orange 2X and then to an orange 1/2X.

Thanks - that was strange. those buttons weren't showing up at first, then when i went back to it later they were there as you said. so far i got it to work for podcasts, but it seems like the feature is missing from audiobook playback. It's weird because those playspeed controls used to be there for audiobooks and podcasts in previous iOS versions.

Oh, but wait ... it gets better. I was going along just fine after getting rid of the Podcasts app. But last week I "upgraded" to iTunes 11 and now I can't even add podcast episodes to playlists AT ALL!!

Geez, what have they done?

Are there any alternatives to iTunes for managing playlists on an iPod Touch so I can continue to add podcast episodes to playlists? I don't listen to music on my iPhone at all, so it's only the Touch I'm concerned about.

And, if no alternatives to iTunes, how about alternatives to the iPod Touch? I never thought I would say those words, but there it is. What other MP3 players are decent enough to compete?

Ok, this is weird. I had tried to add the latest episodes from my podcasts to my playlist, and they weren't being added. Hence my post above. I closed out iTunes and had dinner. About five minutes ago I opened iTunes again, and now I can add podcast episodes to my playlist again. What?!

Is iTunes 11 just misbehaving randomly?

Sure you can do these things or fork out for another app but when it worked so well, so simply for years this seems a seriously retrograde step.

Despite the rumours many of us still use desktop computers and the "i" world is yet to be a complete reality.

I've noticed that now, if I right-click on a podcast episode and click on "Add to playlist", the lists that come up are the ones on my devices, and not the main one on iTunes. In order to add them to the iTunes playlist, from which I sync to my iPod and iPhone, I have to drag and drop from the episode on the right to the playlist on the left pane.

This is another annoyance. I liked it better before. And yes, I do still have a desktop computer. An iMac. I guess I'm old school.

If your IOS device is plugged into your Mac, then when you right click on a podcast episode it will show all of the playlists on your IOS device at the top, then a line, then all the playlists on your Mac. So you can add to either version of playlist. I guess this is added functionality but still not dealing with the elephant in the room....

Very true jockblue but if you move a podcast to one of the playlists on your mobile device, when you disconnect from your Mac they have disappeared from that playlist and are only accessible via Podcast.app

However you can as one of the posts above suggest, select all the podcasts in a playlist on your idevice (whilst on your Mac), type cmd i for info, under options choose the dropdown menu next to "media kind" and choose "music" rather than podcast. Then they will appear in the playlist on your mobile device when it is disconnected. Workable but why break something that worked so well until recently

Delete/uninstall the Podcast app and then reboot your phone. The playlists containing Podcasts will appear in he "Music" app.

I recommend not changing the media type as simondbowler suggested - it'll only serve to screw things up.

Mac based downloading of podcasts is painless and simple. The podcast.app is obviously designed for the many who dont. Still should have a facility to make playlists however. Next release perhaps.
