Sep 19, 2012 1:07 PM in response to stwycrossby Mac OS XP,Same situation!
I noticed it when testing out Map's voice navigation. Quality needs to be clearer! Plus what a disappointment, Waze has better navigation than iOS 6, and it's missing traffic data that's showing up on Waze and Google Maps. And I was told my city would get Flyover, so I was like OK then loss of streat view is no biggie. Turns out Flyover is only for downtown!!!

Sep 19, 2012 1:14 PM in response to stwycrossby CITmAn1,I noticed this also-- Siri's voice is different on my 4s, but it is the same as it was before on the iPad3 (which didn't have siri before). This is weird. I miss the old Siri--the new one is cold and does not speak in as much detail. For instance, she said NV today instead of saying Nevada which is what she said before the update to IOS6. Apple-- Is she going to stay this way?

Sep 19, 2012 1:44 PM in response to stwycrossby Nixpix2003,Ditto. Like my son said, Siri sounds like he's got a mouth full of bees (that's the UK siri, BTW, he's a bloke). Unless it's a bug, I'm not happy with this backward step.
Maps is generally less useful than Google Maps with terrible satellite photos of my area, indistinct towns, roads difficult to see and without road numbers, and without the fantastic traffic data of Google Maps.
Not that keen on the new layout for the app store either. And where's YouTube gone.
Right now I'm wishing I hadn't upgraded!!!

Sep 19, 2012 4:16 PM in response to stwycrossby PezAndy,I'm experiencing the same problem too, but when I downloaded to my iPad, Siri sounds like she should (or how she did on the iPhone before iOS 6. Has anyone discovered why? I'm bothered by this. Her voice sounds like the early voice technology of the 90s.

Sep 19, 2012 6:08 PM in response to stwycrossby GuSTi ,I do belive I know whats going on.
1. After you download and install the iOS 6, it probably fetches in the background the sound file for Siri in the language you selected. I tried many and all lingos sounded like a can. Remember that Siri now is in many languages, probably too many to include in one package.
2. Maybe if you are abroad, like I am in France, it downloads the French Siri Voice and not the English American, but when you switch to English Americna, plug it in and lock the screen, it starts downloading the files needed for the propper voice.
My two cents!

Sep 19, 2012 6:46 PM in response to stwycrossby r3dw1ngs,i have the same issue. Some older posts suggested changing voice compression, and switching wifi on and off. I tried all to no avail. Really annoying.

Sep 19, 2012 6:53 PM in response to stwycrossby jamesuva,Same issue - noticed immediately. Also ipad3 is fine. Only iphone 4s sounds like the voice quality is terrible. Hopefully someone at apple support sees the original post here. Please post in this thread if you are experiencing the same issue to increase the numbers.

Sep 19, 2012 7:00 PM in response to eingrodyby GuSTi ,Plug the phone in to a power source, lock it and wait a few hours. This will make the phone download the needed voice files.
