Well, I am sad to report that after working flawlessly for a couple of weeks, the "set HostName" solution stopped working for me on two occasions. The good news is that restarting iTunes is all it took to fix it again. I leave my computer and iTunes running all the time. So if you quit iTunes or shut down the computer fairly regularly, the problem will probably never come back.
No Problem with iOS5, but after the update to iOS6. Ok, had the same problem here. But for me the problem was my network router. My DSL-provider Vodafone did a update to my EASYBOX803A to firmware version 30.05.216.
With this firmware, Apple-Devices cannot use multicast or bonjour. Have a look here. So homesharing was also not possible with ipad and iphone.
After a downgrade to version 30.05.211 everything is fine. No problems. iTunes-Wlan sync and homesharing are working like before. Get it here.
Has anyone tried "GENERAL >> RESET >> RESET NETWORK SETTINGS" Then reconnect to your wifi internet at home. I tried that last night and it worked out for me. My wifi is no longer disabled/greyed out. But this morning, my phone wasn't detecting any wifi connections. But I was able to turn it on and off this time. I then tried to reset my network settings again, and it works for now. It's just a temporary fix.
x23Raw it seems to be something I have to frequently reset to get it to work. If I have to reboot for any reason I have to do it all over again. That's the only thing that seems to work, reseting my Time Capsule and restarting iTunes so it sees the iPhone(s).
What is weird though, one of our iPhones that syncs to the MacBook works just fine.

Bottom line apple have feck3d us all over with completely inadequate pre release testing the likes only an incompetent amateur company would do !!!

To me this really warns me away from their products in the future. You make your own choices but they aren't doing anything because they dont care because they dont have to!
Personally I like the new microsoft tabet products coming out. At least you know you'll have better general compatibility and support.
I couldn’t imagine this disappointing problem. My Wi-fi is grayed and I don’t have any solution to solve it. I tried to reset everythings network setting and all phone setting several times but nothing fixed.
I can’t imagine buying cell phone against more than 600 USD and then find out this problem without any solutions after 5 months only.
We have to sue apple against this manufacturing defect.
I have been watching this thread for some weeks now, and I must say that the way Apple manages these issues leaves a lot to be desired.
First - it seems that while its happy to charge premium prices for its gear, promoting how easy their products are and so on, that it wants to completely stick its head in the sand on more serious technical issus.
Apple leaves it up to these forums for anybody to try and get any assistance (yes you can go to the Apple Store, but the geniuses don't have a clue on this issue). It seems that the process is to release a product, and then deny by omission that anything is wrong.
There are so many individuals with the same issue in this thread (and other threads also), and what progress has there been since the original post? NOTHING.
Ok - we can reset everything, stop and start services, try reinstalling things, delete and recreate settings and more - but at best it might start working for a few minutes, or perhaps a little longer. This is just not good enough Apple! Eventually I imagine it will be fixed, but with no fan-fare, with no announcements - just pretending that the issue never happened.
We are attempting to sync with iPhones and iPod Touch over Wi-Fi, with no method working consistently.
Compare with my Android Phone running Double Twist - sync's over Wi-Fi without any problems.
I agree with one of the earlier posters - this and other issues that I have had (eg sim card's not working after IOS upgrades because of the restrictive carrier policies) I have decided enough is enough.
Sorry Apple, but you will not be getting any more of my money. I am sick of being told how great my apple devices are and not having any recourse or ability to resolve when things go wrong. There has been plenty of suggestions on this forum - surely enough for Apple to realise that this is an issue?
Time to go check out the latest Nexus 4, and MS Surface - Anything but Apple! Telling all my friends the same!

You have broke my previously working wifi sync on both of my VERY EXPENSIVE devices that I used to use all the time with your half arsed software release and done nothing to fix YOUR MISTAKE which has caused so many of us soo many problems since.
Says so much about you as a company and I for one will NEVER purchase another apple product again based upon this joke !
