iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

I had my first expensive apple gadget (iPhone 4s)last sept.

being patience for the battery problem im having,

Im following this thread from the beginning,

Follow all the advices but having the same thing,

I knew apple will fix this, and another ios came out,

Very exited while im updating my ios to 6.1

After the update, I empty my battery and fully charged my phone,

Got frustrated when i notice that i'm having the same problem, :(

If this aint gonna fix sooner,

It seems that this would be my first and last apple gadget, :(

** i love everything on the phone ,but i rather choose those i can use all day long***

P.s. sorry for my bad english and grammar

Let it run until it totally shuts itself down and depletes the battery, Then charge it back undisturbed (preferably overnight) but at least 1.5 hours past when is shows 100%. This will calibrate your battery and Apple recommends a full cycle at least monthly for battery health. This process has helped a lot of iPhone users between updates of iOS so should be same deal on the touch.

Okay, well I am an Ipod Touch 4th generation owner. Ever since I upgraded to OS6.1, the battery seems to decrease when playing like 5 or 6 games. The one the Ipod came with (OS) was better at holding charge. I charge it everyday now.

There is no way it's less than a year old and Apple isn't replacing though.

If it really is constant no matter what you do it is measurable 2 hours in the store.

I found it is misbehaving cell data, depending on what bug hits, but it always coincides with things I do. It's bad form for iTunes U downloads to be hard to track down in iTunes U, but later I found "downloads" were only managed in iTunes, even if you had tried to download from iTunes U and not gotten anywhere while on good WiFi and it was waiting to hit your 4G.

Both my iPhone 5 and iPad are losing 5% an hour while sitting idle with update 6.1. Update done over the air. Prior to update it was 2% an hour with usage. My iPad could go days without charging. Had to charge four times in the last 2 days all with same usage pattern.

Very surprised never had an iPad battery issue before. But both iPhone5 and iPad it has to be an update issue.

Try the following: settings>reset>reset all settings Then when it reboots and asks select "setup as new" It will not remove your apps or data but will default the settings and wifi connections etc. This has been very successful in prior updates of iOS. You just need to go through the settings and reconfigure your partiuculars.

Notibly turning off diagnoistics and usage, and all options in system settings except cellular and compass and traffic.

If this does not help and you have exchange email setup may want to remove your email accounts, reboot ,then set email up again.

Lastly a iTunes restore would be the final option to try if all else fails. iOS6.1 itself is not creating the battery drain but rather a setting or roque app or corrupt email acct most likely

Thanks! Tried all this. Most before I wrote original post. I've reset my settings and email addresses so many times its not funny anymore. None of it solves the battery drain which didn't exist on Monday.

Both my iPhone 5 and iPad affected with same issue after update to 6.1. I'm not a computer technician but I'd say it is iOS 6.1 that is the problem.

If it walks like a duck and quack like a duck; it is most likely a duck.

Now I have to charge my iPad because I lost 3% writing this post.

Suggest you don't recharge it but let it drain completely. It may be that a new version of the software resets the calibration data for the battery so the meter isn't accurate - we don't know that of course as we don't know what Apple does in its software but the anecdotal evidence in this thread supports that at least in part.

It's not the whole story, but I think most people (including myself so not a criticism) are fussing too much over this too quickly after an update. We need to leave it to drain completely and charge completely a few times after a software update and only then start to draw conclusions about battery life......

I've just updated my 4S to iOS 6.1.

Can't connect to wifi.

Not even after I did a complete wipe, still can't connect to wifi.

As to the battery drain, I don't know. Haven't bothered.

I've gotten an iPhone 5 at my work, and since the 4S is still under warranty I'll go to the store where I bought it and have lot of fun complaining and thrashing Apple 😠
