iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Incorrigible iPhone user is incorrigible.

Lets hope the new 6.1.3 update fixes this battery issue. I have the 4s and it completely DESTROYED my battery drain in like an hr from updating to 6.1.2 Ive already started a new thread on here u should check it out.

At apple store. 2nd time in 2 days, walked through my issue. They gave me a new 4s. VERY noncommittal on issue....

My new phone has 6.1 on it. Not 6.1.1 or 6.1.2

I'm planning to run this version as I don't risk getting the battery sickies again...

Glad to hear that the Apple store took care of you. Whatever bug is in the 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 is effecting iPhones 5 and 4s only. Not the iPads that are up to date. So good luck with the replacement.

I am running iOS 6.1.1 on my iPhone 4S and getting really good battery life.

I did the update using iTunes, not OTA. OTA seems to be a common factor among people with battery life problems. Not everyone but most of the people that I read about that are having battery life problems did their update OTA.

I had problems with the Battery when I first updated to iOS 6.0 but a full battery drain, all the way down to 0%, an overnight recharge, and a restart seemed to do the trick for me.

I was getting better battery life than with iOS 5.X and 6.1.1 seems to be the best for me so far. I can go the whole day with normal usage, unless I need to use the GPS, which has always been a battery killer for me, and end up the day with 30-40% left by the time I am ready to go to bed and plug it back in for the next day.

I hope that iOS 6.1.3 will not be a problem, but I am skipping 6.1.2 because I don't have the exchange bug problem that it fixes.

I updated my iPad 2 and 4 OTA. I am up to date with 6.1.2 and have no battery problem. I think I will stay with the 6.1.2 for now until Apple get the updates in order with there Engineers.

So if we follow the steps that 'fix' this and drain the battery and charge it like you say works and still have the issue, what is the next step?

I just had my setting checked again and they are all correct. I was told 'wow, your battery drained 2% while just checking the settings'. This is after The Apple Store wiped the phone and reloaded the OS from a Mac in their store.

In 2 1/2 hours my phone went from 50% to turning off just now. I will now recharge it again to see what happens.

I understand the fix works for some people, but what do we do if it doesn't help? I can't afford to spend $200 more on a new phone, I got this one not too long ago. I really would like to get more than a couple hours out of my phone.

As for why it doesn't affect all users I don't know, but I work in IT and all the PC's that are imaged the same all act differently. it doesn't always make sense, but I have seen it. I have also talked to a number of the iPhone users at work and they are seeing bad battery performance. Many of them have followed these steps and are still having the issue.

My iPad mini has taking a hit with battery drain. Ios 6.0.1 not one problem! 13-15 hours on 6.0.1 I'm in the same crazy insane boat as everyone who has a battery issue. Same apps, same set up, but now battery *****! I thought 6.0.2 was bad! It's getting worse with every crap update. Apple tells you your battery is running normal...you just want to go nuts because we spend money on our toys, who wants a broken toy? Apple needs to either fix this issue or give us something in return for the mistakes Apple keeps making! Apples website states the iPad mini gets 10 hours of battery life, I'm not getting 10 hours. This whole thing is a lawsuit! I have lost faith in Apple.

It baffles me why Apple's development team would release an update without testing it. My 4s battery would last up to three days (depending upon usage) prior to installation of 6.0, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2. I have tried most of the "tricks" that have been posted that pretty much makes my smart phone into a p.o.s.,unreliable, paperweight. APPLE if you are reading this PLEASE fix this issue or at least give us an option to use the previous ios versions !!!

So I drained my phone all the way down again. I charged it and in the last 30 minutes my battery has dropped from 100% to 81%. I am sorry, but this is unacceptable. By the time I am done writing this it will be at 80%. I plan on calling Apple tomorrow and seeing what they say. I am done trying to jump through hoops to get this fixed. 19% in 30 minutes...and he Apple Tech told me my battery tested fine and is in good shape. ....just hit 80%!

Hopefully someone will come up with a fix that works for the rest of us. Something is not right when a battery drains that fast.

I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation. I see you are having problems with your Ipod/Ipad/Iphone, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.🙂

IM NOT SPAMMING... I AM LISTING ADVICE. IT SEEMS LIKE NOBODY IS DOING IT, AS IT WORKS!

1. Do the IOS update (the one that is the latest, or if you already did or have it downloaded, then proceed to step 2)
2. Reset All Settings: SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET>RESET ALL SETTINGS
3. Use it until it dies (automatically shuts off)
4. Plug into Charge
5. Leave it 1.5 hours or longer after it reaches 100% --> Undisturbed (preferably overnight)
6. Give it a few days to Calibrate

This has helped me on my Ipod Touch 4^th generation, running IOS 6.0.1

(and is 6.2 available for Ipod Touch 4th generation)

If you read through the posts, many of us have done this multiple times and it didn't help.

didya READ all the pages Pizza? all 144 of them?? Your suggestions have been suggested already, I've DONE all that, on BOTH phones, and BOTH phones are still a POS. I've been having this problem for months now, trust me, your 'solution' does not work. May work on a touch, certainly doesn't work on an actual iphone.

I charged my phone through the night after letting it drain down as explained in this post, I have been awake 1 hour, In that time, the battery has gone from 100% to 91 %.

After I call Apple I will post what they say. It seems that it is getting worse.

I have a question for tungsten2k , you seem to have a good grasp on this. Would popping the battery out and reseating it do anything of value?

I am seriously considering jailbreaking the phone and putting on an older OS. I downloaded everything, just waiting to talk to Apple one last time. At this point the phone is pretty useless. If it is dropping 10% an hour while not using it a phone call will drain it.

It may have worked for YOU, yet many of us have done this multiple times, including other things to no avail.

please see a couple of posts up that apple REPLACED my phone completely - yet I am on 6.1 on the 'new' phone - I am *NOT* planning on updating for a while as 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 appear to be the culprit for THOUSANDS of users....

doing a 'reset' did nothing....

Even a DFU and reinstalling as a new phone did nothing.
